Week 3- Cropping composition

Week 3- Cropping composition

Before

After - cropping
In these two photos i used cropping in the after photo to define the bent pole and to get more focus i used the contrast tool to brighten the grass also

Before

After

I boosted the Metallic grey and orange colours using the adjustment brush. I also like how the lines define the image straightens the image - i contrasted the image to bring the orange colour more.

Week four -Digital Technology 1- Camera Raw Excercises

Week 4 Digital Technology 1- Camera Raw Exercises

Before
 After- Colour correction

After - black and white

first photograph you could see the lighting stand in the background so I used the spot removal tool to remove it - i could see a huge improvement fast , then cropped the photograph so her belly the main focus. In the first photograph the colours were a bit faded so I used the colour correction tool in the second photo to darken those colours adding a bit of contrast. The third photograph I used the greyscale panel to make it black and white.

Before

After

The first photograph actually tones down the colours of the flowers and makes the flowers look under tone i there colours - i have used the colour correction tool in Camera Raw to give the photo more of a cooler look and made the flowers stand out and look their true colours. I really like the cooler tone of the concrete now as it looks more real and even though I didn't change the clarity or anything in the second photograph there is far more detail in the concrete and flowers.

Before
After

Heres another photograph that has to much of a warm temperature which doesn't bring out the nice blues and greens in the water, sky and tree this time instead of using the colour correction tool i used the Temperature slide in the basic panel. the photograph looks far more natural.

Francesca Woodman
American photographer Francesca Woodman has eighteen rare vintage black and white photographs in the Artist Rooms display, from a collection once owned by the artist’s boyfriend. Woodman’s photographs exhibit many influences, from symbolism and surrealism to fashion photography and Baroque painting. They have a timeless quality that is ethereal and unique. The artist began taking photographs at the age of thirteen and though she was only twenty two when she took her own life, she left behind a substantial body of work. April 3,1958 - January 19,1981 years after she killed herself at the age of 22

  1. Richard Avedon
    Photographer

Richard Avedon (May 15, 1923 – October 1, 2004) was an american fashion and portrait photographer. An obituary published in The new York times said that "his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America's image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century" In 1944, Avedon began working as an advertising photographer for a department store, but was quickly endorsed by alexey brodovitch, the art director for the fashion magazine also promoted Avedon's career at Harper's. This photograph of rainer i really like with half cropped face also the branch from the tree in the background shows that theres more to the photo then just her, i do prefer the photo in colour as it shows the different colours in the photo.
before

after

Heres a before and after photo of rainer underexposed that i edited in camera raw, i brightened the photo to bring out the colours more in rainers stripy shirt and her hair colour also brightened the ground to show there was more light for this photo.

iso text week two

f/1.8  1/2000 iso100

Iso Test
f/22.0  1/100  iso 800
f/22.0  1/125  iso1000

For the ISO test I started with the lowest ISO and gradually went higher and higher this showed me how grainy the highest ISO can be. As i changed the ISO the pictures got darker so i left the shutter speed as it was but changed the f stops to let in enough light. The three pictures i have shown goes from the Lowest ISO to the highest ISO, the middle portrait gives me an idea as to how high i can have my ISO and still get a nice enough photo ,which is 1600 ISO. The Highest ISO photograph is also a bit over exposed, i could have fixed this by taking the shutter speed down.
f/1.8  1/1600  iso200

What is Photography & What does it mean to me ?

What does Photography mean to me?

Photography is a big passion of mine that i truly enjoy, i can show many expressions and put my heart out to the thing i try do best, i have taken many events as in my fathers racing events, family friends wedding, babys and baby bumps. Just doing the little things to get my name out there to show others what i can do with myself. Photography came into my life when i got myself a fujifilm and took some awesome photos at racing and seeing other photographers on the racetrack helped me guide where i wanted to go. I started up a facebook page to show family and friends my work i ended  up getting amazing feed back which pushed me to upgrading and looking into getting classes to learn more and more.

What is Photography?

The word Photography comes from greek , Photo for light and Graph for Drawing, Drawing with light is a way of describing photography to this day photography has become a powerful meaning of communication and a mode of visual expression that touches humans lifes in many ways.

Week one: shutter speed

Shutter speed:
Taken at f/18.0  1/10  ISO100
This photo taken without a tripod trying to focus on the
background but having the main object blur to look
the they are moving.

Taken at f/22.0  1.0  ISO100
This photo was taken without a tripod as you can notice the photo is blur and not in focus, This photo was taken with a low shutter speed and because we were outside the photo came out over exposed.
Taken at f/4.0  1/250  ISO100
This photo was take with a tripod and learning the different
shutter speed, in this photograph i've used a fast shutter speed because I am wanting to freeze the action. You can see here that my subject is about to jump this photograph would have been more affective if the background was blurred
Taken at f/7.1  1/100 ISO100
This Photo was also taken with a tripod but learning how to
change the f-stop and shtterspeed
F\20.0  20.0  ISO100
Trying out different shutter speeds

Self directed slow shutter speed taken at f/5.0  1.3  ISO200
Taken without a tripod - Testing at night with my sister with
torches moving in circles.
