Final on the wall

So happy with my final done and dusted and pined onto the wall really liking my layout with the stages of the story i tried to go along the lines of - Stephanie was kind enough and wrote a little story that she thought my photographs tell - I'm still trying to get that story off her.

Heres my final on the wall at MIT creative arts building
Didn't have a idea of layout but i caroline helped me once we got to the wall and realised how much room we really have and the size of my photographs. Loved the pin idea i think it just goes well with my photographs but honestly I'm so happy with how my photos really tuned out and how well they really do look.

Theses 4 photos are the stages
of my Photographs

Richard Mosse
What genre/s does Richard Mosse’s ‘The Enclave’ fit into?
Documentary | Fine Art
What is the history that relates to this project?
War-torn Congo Richard Mosse: Making visible an invisible conflict

Richard Mosse returned 8 times over 4 years. He has an amazing connection and respect of the people and being able to document the different events. He is drawn too the war-torn Congo as he said on the video it is his calling not the correct choice of words. But this explains his passion to be photograph the Eastern Congo. The first impression he would like the viewer to see is the beautiful and full of life country. But on a closer look they see the distraction and devastation of the people in the Congo.  One could defiantly criticise Richard as words cannot explain the horrific things that have being and still are going on.
I don't think at any time does he want to down play the event going on but the need to bring some beauty into the photo's help with the healing he has experienced.
War photographs are cold and express death and distraction. This is so meaningless. A lot of war photos are in black and white. Film was used and often no time to compose the photo just point and shoot.

Photographic Genres

Photographic Genres
Which genres require more photo retouching?  Creative Genre
Why do you think this is? Retouching of image would be required for Creative Genre to create a near perfect look of the subject. This does not need to be realty. Correcting the colour or defects of the photo taken. Creative Genre also allows for fantasy and creativity bringing new ideas to the image.

Photoshoot Two like and dislike

truly like this photograph because i like
the movement with ashley running
towards me blur movement
love this one with the edit on the photograph
with the red only the colour and black and
white throughout the rest of the photo
love her funning through the forest.

Have alot of photographs like this one
but love this one manly because her hair and hanging
on the tree shows so much scaryness

like this one also with the facial in her
and the edit with the darkness and red

this photograph i love as it sows the end
of all the photographs with her
taking the danger away and off her ending
her gothic life!

Chris Sisarich

Chris Sisarich is a fashion photographer and former New Zealand model, who served as a judge on the reality series New Zealand's Next Top Model. He lives in Auckland.
This photograph was taken beginning of april
of my friend kaitlyn and this photo reminded
me of Chris sisarich photograph of the bright
sunlight with people walking in the water
my photograph is dull but still a connection
with people walking through the water.

This photograph reminds me when i photographed
my mate at the beach walking through the water  >>>

Te Taniwha & The Thread
Joyce Campbell - I really liked the ghostly feel - with strange flares through it and Vignette edges from the camera lens, the fact that her work was based on Maori legends
I liked her images because they are a piece of New Zealand history and its about the Maori Culture. Everything is so much more interesting when you actually focus and learn more and more about the photographer.

Experimentation  -

Only took one photograph before it started raining  but i don't approve of this photograph as it doesn't remind me of Joyce campbell work..
But i will post it so you can see too dark wishing i could experiment more and play around with more settings

Haru Sameshima

Haru Sameshima was born in 1958, Shizuoka City, Japan.  Immigrated to New Zealand 1973.  He was taught photography by his scientist father at early age.  He worked in small Dunedin photographic studio learning the craft before attending Otago Polytechnic Art School in 1980, then completing BFA (1992) and MFA (1995) at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.

For photo responses im going to photograph my mums coke collection alot of plastic and glass bottles im going to try photograph in natural light then try dark room.

Experimentation
Because I didn't have the proper gear to take a photo like Haru, I had to use what I had which was my mothers coke collection cups, the inbuilt flash on my camera and our under stairs wall drobe . For my experimentation I wanted to create the reflections and shadows Haru has created in his photographs,  I still feel like my experimentation includes Haru's ideas.

I wanted to get the background black and the objects in full light sadly i dint work tried a few time of getting this but i like how these photos look with shadow.

Penina Joy Digital Photo Responce

I took this photograph thinking of when penina walks
around auckland city and photographs the streets where ever
she goes her camera goes so i tried to follow the lines of
her photographs and just take photos of me walking the streets.

Pennies photographs of the streets remind me from when i used to walk the streets when i stayed at my beach house just wonder around taking photographs of anything but realising how beautiful the actually look. These are some Photographs that i look on the long weekend but then my battery died and it was raining the next day.

Penina Joy
My mate Volo had given me the idea to tell peoples stories behind their tattoos.
I had started posting the Ink Series stories as well as random posts up on my Tumblr until one of my favourite bloggers – John Gotty of The Smoking Section emailed me and told me I was messing up his Tumblr feed with my posts and to get a real blog hahaha Shot Gotty!
Appreciated the email so this ones for you lol  About the same time a mate of mine – Niko told me he really liked reading my ramblings & encouraged me to keep at it which was a huge confidence boost to actually just Do It – Nike.
Yup, so this blog is pretty much posts on the things & people in life that fascinate me, inspire me or have fascinating & inspiring stories because I’m Curious George.

russ flatt digital photo responce

Just realised i didn't take as many photographs as i thought but here one that i took while i was away for the long weekend of my Father stepmom and my dog paused doing what they do. Not as interesting but Looking through russ flats images showing what his family used to do and take photo graphs of it. As i was taking this photo i thought of this photograph of Russ Flatts... Because with this Photograph of russ flatts it looks like there just doing what they normally do.
This photograph was taken late afternoon with the sun going down so one side of the photograph is darker - but a nice bright light shining tho into my stepmom
The subject matter is similar because i feel like both images show what these people do a a daily bases

What is their relationship with the camera?

i have missing files but all saved onto my hard drove but not my computer these photographs were my top black and white photos :)

didn't use this photograph for my final
i really liked it but it didn't match the
others and i liked the idea of the one
girl through out my photographs.

What genre does Richard mosses 'The Enclave' fit into? Documentary

Why does he choose to use the kodak infrared film for the project?

How does the use of this film fit into the documentary genre?

Why do you think he has been back so many times? I personally think its because he enjoys be around that environment and getting close to one another and photographing horrific events.

What Justification does he have for creating such beautiful images to represent such horrific events?
